There is a single file format specified for use with all DVD Books A – D. This file system format is UDF/ISO-9660 Bridge. UDF (Universal Disc Format) was designed specifically for optical media and has evolved from the ISO-9660 format. The advantage of this single file system is the capacity of DVD media to be compatible with set top players and personal computers with DVD ROM player.
The upper level of the organization on a DVD is a volume. The volume contains a single DVD-Video zone that contains all data elements for the video title set-top,
and some other areas of DVD that can be used for non-video DVD data elements such as desktop applications.
It is important to note that currently the best players can not the DVD accss Other areas, since they only know how to access the DVD video zone.
Computers can access other areas of DVD and run applications that allow greater interaction with the DVD video zone.
DVD structure volume
At the top of the structure is the DVD in a whole other area with its video and DVD. The video manager usually includes an introductory video clip, such as a logo and a navigation menu.

The data in the video title object is composed of Video Games (VOBS), which are composed of one or more video objects (VOB). A video object consists of the video audio, navigation data and sub-images to a program.
It is the VOB file is the fundamental element of the DVD media.
The lowest branch of the DVD structure is the cell. Each VOB can be divided into one or more cells. A cell can be as large as the whole film or small as a MPEG GOP (Group of pictures).
For example, a film with 5 chapters would have a video director, a game title, a title, VOBS one composed of a VOB and 10 cells.
